YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

America is filled with beautiful scenic parks. Yosemite in California, The Royal Gorge in Colorado, The Great Lakes, The Rockies, The Appalachians, & even The Everglades in Florida are visited by millions every year. Some hold rare animals, like grizzly bears, gray wolves, alligators, the American buffalo & manatees that you can only see in these places. But one of the crown jewels of America's National Parks is Yellowstone.

On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic features. Within Yellowstone's 2.2 million acres, visitors have unparalleled opportunities to observe wildlife in an intact ecosystem, explore geothermal areas that contain about half the world’s active geysers, and view geologic wonders like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Yellowstone offers amazing challenges to the experienced hiker or fun carefree trails for the family. You can stay at a campsite or in a lodge. Depends on how much nature you want to soak up.

Of course, the most popular tourist attraction is Old Faithful. Old Faithful is one of 500 geysers in Yellowstone & was the first geyser in the park to be named. It is a highly predictable geothermal feature and has erupted every 44 minutes to two hours since 2000. People from all over the world come to see this Yellowstone legend. If you want, you can also stay at the Old Faithful Inn, built in 1903, it is one of the few remaining log inns & its design reflects the chaos associated w/its geothermal attractions around it.

Yellowstone's abundant wildlife is as famous as its geysers. In the park, animals have over 3,000 square miles of habitat available to them, so seeing them usually involves both luck and timing. But when you do, you will feel amazed & humbled by them. Just remember, wild animals are just that: WILD. Do not feed them & do not attempt to touch them or get close for that perfect selfie. Bears can charge at quick speeds & are much faster than a huma. If at all possible, always stay 100 yards from bears & wolves & 25 yards from other animals.
